Frequently Asked Questions
What is an SSL certificate?
An SSL/TLS certificate enables the HTTPS padlock on websites. It encrypts data between your browser and the website, verifies the website's identity, and prevents man-in-the-middle attacks.
What do SSL Labs grades mean?
SSL Labs grades A+ to F rate the security configuration of HTTPS. A+ means perfect setup. A is excellent. B/C means some weak configurations. F means serious security issues or a failed certificate.
My certificate expires soon — what should I do?
Renew your SSL certificate before it expires. Most CAs send renewal reminders. If using Let's Encrypt, auto-renewal should be configured. A lapsed certificate will show browser security warnings.
