Frequently Asked Questions

What is AQI?

AQI (Air Quality Index) is a scale used to communicate how polluted the air currently is. Values 0–50 are Good, 51–100 Satisfactory, 101–200 Moderate, 201–300 Poor, 301–400 Very Poor, and 401–500 Severe.

What is a dangerous AQI level?

AQI above 200 is considered Poor and starts affecting general health. Above 300 (Very Poor) is hazardous, and above 400 (Severe) is an emergency — everyone should avoid outdoor activity.

How often is AQI data updated?

AQI data is sourced from monitoring stations operated by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and is updated approximately every 30 minutes.
